February 7: WAAM's Joe Gagnon to Interview DTE

Joe Gagnon, who interviewed Linda Kurtz last week on WAAM Radio 1600 AM, is interviewing DTE on February 7 from 8-10. Be sure to call in. We suggest you send Joe your comments beforehand, as well as questions he should ask DTE. When you call in, you should be armed with facts that counter DTE's lies.  We suggest that you suggest to him that he have Linda Kurtz on on the second half of the show, so that both she and DTE can answer questions, and so that she can ask DTE questions and rebut their nonsense.

  1. DTE answered all of the 'claims' Ms. Kurtz made pretty well I think. While I'm truly sorry for any health problems that Ms. Kurtz may be having, or feels she's having as part of smart meters, the fact is that DTE has been up front about this product, and there is the opt out portion. I really don't think DTE can be any more open on this.

  2. Hi, we appreciate your input, and I hoep you can be more specific about how you think DTE answered all the questions adequately. Thanks. I'll reply a couple points DTE made, below, but I'd like to hear what responses DTE made most resonated with you.

DTE "answered" the claims with denials or partial truths. For instance, DTE is well aware that a meter exploded in Ann Arbor in 2012, as it had to come out and replace the smart meter. The explosions was reported on WXYZ )http://www.wxyz.com/news/is-your-electric-meter-dangerous) and Michigan Radio.

DTE is well aware that the problem with its meters is not just the RF, but the electromagnetic interference (dirty electricity) caused by the switched mode power supplies in the meters. Over 2/3 of the people reporting health problems did not know a smart meter had been installed for days, months, weeks, and often years after it was installed. It's not in their heads.

Of interest: 65,000 emails between PG&E (California) and the CPUC (state utility commission, akin to our MPSC) have been publicly released. Emails reveal the collusion between CPUC and PG&E. They discussed the smart meter problems privately, violating their own rules of procedure.

Sept 2010: CPUC President Michael Peevey wrote to PG&E's Brian Cherry:

"One thought for the company: If it were my decision I would let anyone who wants to keep their old meter keep it, if they claim they suffer from EMF and/or related electronic-related illnesses and they can produce a doctor's letter saying so (or expressing concern about the likelihood of suffering same). I would institute such a policy quietly and solely on an individual basis. There really are people who feel pain, etc., related to EMF,etc., and rather than have them becoming hysterical, etc., I would quietly leave them alone. Kick it around. And, it sounds like the company may already have taken this step, based on a couple of the comments at yesterday's public hearing."
